The Andriano Co-Operative of Wine Makers is the oldest in South Tyrol. It was founded in 1893.In 1893, their vintners took a decisive step and combined their skills and energies to form the first co-operative of winemakers in South Tyrol. With dedication and a keen sense of taste, they strove to constantly achieve and maintain a level of quality that can stand the test of time – and they have been striving since 2008 under the aegis of the Terlano Wine Cellars.
The secret of making a special wine consists of more than just diligent work in the VINEYARDS and in the WINE CELLAR. Devotion, careful attention, and a passionate love of the soil, the vine, and the grape are needed. A passion expressed in every vintage of Andriano.
The vineyards are unique to the area, because they are protected to the west by the calcareous Mount Gantkofel. They cover an area of 200° from south-south-east to east at an altitude almost 300 metres above sea level.
Thanks to its different orientations, here is the ideal growing area for different varieties, from Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir.
For centuries, with passion and dedication, winemakers have captured the character of Andriano’s distinctive terroir. Andriano’s cooler climatic conditions produce wines with crisp acidity, unique complexity, freshness and elegance.
Since September 2008, Cantina Andriano has been managed by Cantina Terlano. The new vintages, released in march 2009, reveal a new quality philosophy, obtained by a drastic yield reduction.
