Verdicchio grape is present mainly in the Marche region, in the hills between Jesi and Matelica, since the VIII century. His name, as also happens for many other cases (Verdeca, Verduzzo) comes from the color of its berries. It is a strong variety, vigorous, with a fairly late ripening, a lover of well-exposed hillside positions and clay and limestone soils, preferably not very drought. It has a great capacity for sugar synthesis and a good control tartaric acidity, even in very hot years, thanks to the performance of aging, which is always slow and gradual.
