Wine from Marche

The Marche region is characterized by the peculiarity of being entirely hilly or mountainous. There is virtually no flat land. There are a dozen DOC and DOCG areas of the Marche. These are mainly winding along the coast, but also inland with important ramifications. Among the most famous wines are the fine Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, coming from the area around the city which give the wine its name, while the Rosso Piceno, with its dry taste and a delicate and pleasant aroma, comes from a large territory along the southern part of the regional coast.
