About Conte Villa Prandone Wines

“Il Conte” has deep historical, artistic and wine growing roots in Marche, a land of ancient traditions, which are becoming renown worldwide. In the province of Ascoli Piceno lie the splendid hills of Monteprandone. Here, fanned by the breeze of the Adriatic Sea, the De Angelis family have their both vineyards and also olive groves. The prestigious wines, “IL CONTE – VILLA PRANDONE” originate from different varieties of grapes: specifically Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Merlot, Passerina, Pecorino and Trebbiano. Experience, sacrifice, and, equally importantly, passion for the grapevines on this generous land are their key to success. Perfect harmony between Walter’s and Samuel’s uncompromising exactness in the vineyards and Emmanuel’s equally important know-how in the wine cellar create these truly stunning wines.

The estate

Il Conte, home of Conte Villa Prandone Wines, is located 4km inland from the Adriatic coast at an altitude of 150–200m above sea level. The estate features a large underground wine cellar for aging wines and a pleasant tasting room. The 25 hectares of surrounding vineyards, including both old and new plantings, are entirely exposed to the southwest. The grapevines are predominantly trained using a vertical trellis system with bilateral guying and spur pruning, spaced 60–100cm apart on sandstone and clay-calcareous soils. Yield is carefully limited to 60–90 tonnes per hectare through thinning and selective vintage, while the local climate ensures the grapes reach perfect ripeness for producing exceptional Conte Villa Prandone Wines.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Conte Villa Prandone Wines lies on a hill near Monteprandone, in the southern part of Marche, by the border with Abruzzo. Rolling hills, valleys, and scattered villages form part of the view from the winery. The blue of the Adriatic Sea can be seen to the East, while the snow-covered Apennini Mountains appear to the West. Locally, a variety of cultivation including meadows, cornfields, olive groves, and vineyards surrounds the estate. The secret beauty of this region, along with its rich culture and tradition, awaits discovery by the rest of the world.
