THE PRODUCER : Castello del Terriccio
Lupicaia IGT Castello del Terriccio is the flagship wine of Castello del Terriccio, named after a local hill where wolves once roamed (“Lupi” meaning wolves, “Aia” meaning area).
Vineyards: The Lupicaia IGT Castello del Terriccio vineyards overlook the Mediterranean, benefiting from sunlight reflection, coastal breezes, and ideal climate conditions that promote perfect grape ripening.
Production: Grapes are hand-harvested, gently de-stemmed, and carefully pressed to preserve the skins. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in open-cap stainless steel tanks with maceration for 20 days, followed by daily draining to extract the aromatic bouquet and achieve balanced tannins for long aging potential.
Aging: The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 22 months, followed by one year in the bottle before release.
Nose: The Lupicaia IGT Castello del Terriccio opens with a complex bouquet of red fruits and warm spices.
Taste: On the palate, this wine is round, silky, and perfectly balanced, showcasing the elegance and structure that allow Lupicaia IGT Castello del Terriccio to age gracefully for years. A truly exceptional Tuscan wine experience.
