Tuscany produces many fine wines, especially red, and the quality of its production is known and appreciated throughout the world. The entire region boasts a host of different production areas of IGT, DOCG, and more than thirty DOC areas. The whole region is hilly, and has a mild climate thanks to the extensive coast overlooking the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea. In the provinces of Florence and Siena some quite ancient well-known wines are produced: the famous Chianti Classico, the Brunello di Montalcino and the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. In the territories of Livorno and Grosseto, thanks to the mild climate from the sea, Bolgheri and Sassicaia are the most famous products. Among the white wines we could mention Vernaccia di San Gimignano, produced in a small area of Tuscany between Siena, Pisa and Florence.
According to the most recent ranking of Wine-Searcher.com, Sassicaia of Tenuta San Guido is the first non French wine to be classified as one of the most sought after.
